Publisher's Note
:
A Valentine for Lori
This is not your ordinary Publisher’s Note. Instead, it’s a note about IN’s publisher, Lori Murphy. We secretly hijacked her space for this issue to add our own kudos to the others she has received in the past few months.
It came as no surprise to those of us who work with her that Lori has been named 2006 Chamber Member of the Year by the West St. Tammany Chamber of Commerce. Or that she received the Business Woman of the Year 2006 award from the West St. Tammany Business and Professional Women. As was stated at both of the award ceremonies, her service to the community, especially through the medium of Inside Northside, has been invaluable. We are gratified that those organizations recognized in her the qualities that we have experienced for years.
Those close to her know that Lori is a passionate person—passionate about her family, primarily, but also about her community and Inside Northside.
IN is truly a combination of Lori’s vision and commitment. Her vision is that of a northshore lifestyle publication that includes features of local interest written by local writers and original artwork by local artists, all of the highest quality possible and targeted to the local northshore audience. The vision stands on a three-legged stool: her commitment to her readers, her clients and to the northshore community. Each day, she lives out and balances the vision with the three-fold commitment, calling those of us on her staff to share the highs and lows of that journey with her. In our estimation, there is no better way to lead.
But for us, Lori is so much more than leader or “boss,” a term she despises. Her passion for IN extends to a caring friendship with each one of us in the IN family, marked by an overflowing generous spirit.
Love is not a word used frequently in the business world. When it is there, however, you cannot deny its presence. So this is our kudo, our Valentine, our love letter, if you will, for Lori. She gets our award for Outstanding “Boss” and Friend!
With love, from her
not-so-secret admirers,
The Inside Northside Staff
