One on One: Janelle Allen and Stephanie Dupepe, Co-chairs, 2008 Harvest Cup Polo Classic

by Karen Gibbs

This year’s co-chairs of the Harvest Cup Polo Classic are the dynamic duo, Janelle Allen and Stephanie Dupepe. Devoted wives and mothers, these two women have been active in the Junior League of Greater Covington for four years. Not ones to shy away from work, they co-chaired the silent auction committee for three years before assuming the leadership role for the League’s largest fundraiser, the Polo Classic.
Born and raised in Hammond, Janelle attended the University of Southern Mississippi. In addition to her bachelor’s degree, USM gave her the opportunity to meet her future husband, Curt. Janelle went on to earn her master’s in business management, a degree that she puts to good use as an active volunteer in her community. The mother of two boys, Will (4) and Connor (2), Janelle loves the outdoors, wine tasting and exercising at Franco’s.

New Orleans native and Cabrini High alum Stephanie Dupepe graduated from Loyola University, where she earned her bachelor’s in business administration. She worked as an insurance adjuster and inspector before marrying husband Dustin, a Mandeville insurance agent. Northshore residents since 2001, the couple has two daughters, Olivia (5) and Taylor (3 months), as well as a menagerie of two dogs and two cats.
Janelle and Stephanie joined the Junior League together. “I wanted to help those in need in the community,” says Stephanie.

Adds Janelle, “It is a good feeling knowing that the time and service we dedicate to the community are helping others who otherwise might not have their needs met.”

Both say that their favorite JLGC project is the Children’s Museum of St. Tammany—an enormous undertaking that will educate and inspire northshore children and adults for years to come.
