The holidays are upon us, and it’s time to eat, drink and be merry. This issue is filled with ways to do that! You’ll find plenty of food and fun, whether it’s recipes, tips on how to celebrate without gaining an ounce, ideas of what’s doing around the northshore during this holiday season, how the northshore used to celebrate Christmas, and so much more.

Planning a wedding? Just wish you were? Be sure to check out our special wedding section this issue—it’s full of wedding glitz and tips.

Carnival season is also fast approaching—Mardi Gras comes early next year, February 8. We’ve listed all of the northshore parades so you can make your plans, as well as other fun Carnival information.

The holidays are a time to treasure our friends and family. A heartwarming story on the true meaning of friendship can be found on page 79: Inspiration, Donzaroo Style. While Donnie Jarrell fights Lou Gehrig’s disease, his friends rally around him to give back to a friend who changed their lives, and continues to do so.

Have a wonderful holiday filled with the blessings of family and friends!

PS. The winner of the October-November 2004 hidden phrase word search, “Don’t Forget to Vote,” was Lisa Daigle of Covington. Congratulations, Lisa!
