The Southeastern Channel: Alternative TV

Northshore viewers in Tangipahoa and Livingston parishes enjoy alternatives in television programming, thanks to the Southeastern Channel, Southeastern Louisiana University’s award-winning educational channel on Charter Cable Channel 18.

Offering students and area citizens new ways to access educational information and cultural events, Southeastern Channel programming ranges from telecourses, talk shows, training programs and documentaries to concerts and sporting events. Featured shows include “Northshore Business,” which utilizes university faculty and successful northshore businessmen to provide helpful information and advice for northshore business owners, and “The Florida Parishes Chronicles,” which spotlights little-known history in our own backyards.

“College Night,” is a new entertainment show for university students. The 30-minute program airs at 9:30 p.m. on Tuesday and Friday nights and at 10:30 p.m. on Saturdays. The show features interviews, previews of upcoming films, student reactions to current movies, a corner for student movie critics, and a spotlight on student-produced films at Southeastern.t
