Letters to the Editor

Dear Lori,

I read an interesting article by Webb Williams in your October/ November 2003 issue entitled “Uncle Earl–Crazy ‘bout the Northshore.”

I’d like to quote passages from it and provide a link in a forthcoming article I’m writing about Earl Long. I am a freelance writer and some of my articles are published on the Internet. However, I am not paid. I do it entirely for my own interest and, hopefully, contribute to learning as I myself learn.

It would be a privilege! We’d love to see the finished piece. -Lori

Dear Lori,

Another great issue! I was so excited to see photos from the UNO alumni chapter on the northshore. It’s about time! How can an alum get info on joining this new chapter?

It’s great to hear how much you enjoy reading IN. For more info on the northshore UNO chapter, contact Carolyn Jones at (310) 699-0553 or e-mail at cpjones@jones-co.com.

Dear Lori,

My wife and I have been asking for Joyce at La Provence for years and have kept up with some of the important events in her life. One evening we didn’t even get a drink before Joyce showed us the “One on One” article in your April/May issue. You may be unaware of the people to whom each issue of your magazine means so much. I wanted to make certain that you learned of the great joy you brought to Joyce by giving others the opportunity to know her and her talent. It really made us happy to share her delight.

Dear Martha,

Again I read your magazine and notice that the north side of the lake stops somewhere east of Mandeville. I have yet to see an article about anything in Slidell. As a resident of Slidell, I find this disappointing, and in some ways makes me believe that your magazine does not consider the city I live in up to the same level as the Covington/Mandeville area.
Kurt H.
Slidell

Martha forwarded your message to me and I thought it was an opportunity for us to enlist a little help from east St. Tammany. Inside Northside has been around for 20 years. I bought the magazine three years ago and expanded the circulation to Slidell because it is an important part of the northshore. We try very hard to include all aspects of the community we serve in every issue.

Recent Slidell area coverage included a tour of the Taliancich family B&B in “The Garden House,” Dec/Jan; an interview with Kelly Gustafson for “One on One” in Feb/Mar, and a feature on the Pearl River home of Radim and Lisa Kolarsky called “Residential Revival” in April/May.

I assume that you might wish to see more advertising in each issue by the great merchants that you do business with every day in Slidell. I couldn’t agree more. Ask your favorite merchants if they’ve considered IN as a way to reach you, others in Slidell and across the northshore.

Regarding other editorial opportunities, the Inside Scoop calendar of events and Inside Peek photo pages are always available for submissions. Spread the word!

Thank you for your continued interest in Inside Northside. You can help us bring more of your neighborhood to the magazine. Please keep me posted regarding any ideas you might have.

Dear Lori,

I want to take the time to thank you and your staff for your continuous coverage of the visual arts on the northshore. We are blessed with a very talented group of artists living and working here, and the number seems to grow day by day. Very few venues are available for artists to highlight their work with the style and quality that has come to be expected from Inside Northside. Beautiful images, intriguing stories about the artists, and coverage of collectors who value art as an integral part of their life has made Inside Northside a valuable asset to those of us who value “creation” rather than “destruction” in our world. Thanks for being on the side of “creation.” We all benefit from your efforts.

Thanks, Robin. Promoting the arts and culture on the northshore is an integral part of what we do. We appreciate the recognition and encouragement! -Lori

Dear Lori,

I showed your latest issue to an attorney in our office. She grew up in Destin and Ft. Walton and her parents still live in one of the condos in Destin harbor. A classmate is the mayor of Ft. Walton and is interested in relocating and preserving the Green Knight for posterity. How can they get in touch with the author of the article? Another great issue (and vehicle for Historic Preservation Societies).

I forwarded your message to our writer, Webb Williams; he’ll be in touch. This is a great cause, and one that I can certainly get behind. Consider this an official plea to anyone with old Green Knight photos to please send them in!

Dear Lori,

Thanks so much for inviting Ghost Town to perform at your “Meet the Artist” party held at Alex Patout’s Restaurant. We really enjoyed the event and, once again, we sincerely appreciate the terrific Ghost Town article in your latest issue. We’re receiving tons of great feedback from it!
Christian Serpas & Ghost Town

Thank YOU and your band for helping to make our April “Meet the Artist” event the best ever. The music was awesome!
