It’s no
coincidence that Spring is a bouncy word. It seems we all spring from pillar
to post during this time of the year. We have Easter bunnies and school
holidays, Jazz Fest and Cinco de Mayo, too much work to do and beautiful
weather beckoning us outdoors.
This is also a time when we remember. The small white patent leather purses that matched our shoes and hat for church. Baskets - the bigger the better! The dye that stained our fingers. There’s a new twist on decorating eggs found in this issue on page 62, as well as a short peek into the origins of Easter traditions. Tradition is a passion for those of us trying hard to keep the feel of our yesterdays in the hectic lives we live today. It is that same passion that drives a growing interest in tracing family roots. Learn a bit about how to get started in the informative feature found on page 36, Uncovering the Past. On page 58, Anna Ribbeck shares some ideas about establishing roots in your garden to produce explosions of color and whimsy. Who knows, maybe you’ll bring forth blooms worthy of Mom on Mothers Day! Get a pedicure and wear sandals. Shop for a swimsuit. Bone up on your sailing knots. It’s Spring - enjoy!
