This issue is my swan song for Inside Northside. My husband has somehow allowed himself to be transferred back to Washington, D.C., dragging me and our two teenagers with him. I can’t tell you how much it grieves us to leave this area. We have had more than seven happy years here enjoying the good life. Now it’s back to the reality of harsh winters and unaffordable housing!!
Here’s a list of the top five things I’ll miss about the northshore:
5. Egrets
4. Live oaks
3. Shrimp po-boys
2. “Driveway drinks” with neighbors and friends—year-round!
1. Inside Northside Magazine
Speaking of live oaks, if you’re a fan of these majestic trees, you’ll enjoy the story on the Live Oak Society, where the trees themselves are the members. This issue is filled with beautiful photographs. Besides the trees, the Clydesdale horses are featured, and there are great pictures and stories of local graduating seniors. In honor of Mother’s Day, we have some wonderful mother-daughter portraits. I’m very proud of my last issue as Managing Editor!
I’m happy to say that I’m leaving the position in good hands: Stacey Paretti Rase, a northshore native and frequent contributor—she wrote the Mothers and Daughters story for this issue—is taking my place. I’m sure she’d love to hear your ideas on what you’d like to see on the pages of our magazine. You can reach her at Stacey@insidenorthside.com.
My thanks to Lori and the wonderful staff here at Inside Northside for the great experience and camaraderie. I will miss you all! Au revoir means “until we meet again …”
Congratulations to Jean Gajewski of Mandeville, the winner of our Word Search in the February/March edition. Enjoy your cookbook!
