When you ask
most northshore residents what makes living here ideal, their responses
invariably include something about an easygoing, relaxed lifestyle, the
great school systems, the neighborhoods, and so on. These factors have certainly
brought many “come here’s” to our area. Ask Doug Kibler,
however, and he would probably add “technology-based solutions”
to the list.
Doug is
CIO of PMOLink, a Mandeville-based company that provides project management
services to companies across the United States. Starting with just three
employees in a home office in 2001, PMOLink now has earnings of over $6
million and more than thirty employees in cities including New York and
Washington, D.C. We felt sure that this was the most favorable environment for us to grow the business. We anticipated, and have received, support from many local, state, and federal government offices. In addition, we worked with other northshore companies to develop a powerful web presence and form a marketing and advertising strategy. What type of company is PMOLink? We provide technology-based guidance for companies seeking to improve project management as well as organizational and financial performance. Effectively managing the changing business climate is a key factor in the success of a company. Our systems help manage some of that change and sustain initiatives. What types of clients do you work with? Our customer base includes some national Fortune 500 energy, pharmaceutical and insurance companies–we even work with the State of Louisiana! Where do you like to wine and dine? Friends on the Tchefuncte is an all-time favorite, as is Trey Yuen. What is your favorite aspect of northshore living? We especially like the strong sense of community and family environment that the northshore offers. Great neighborhoods and schools are certainly two important factors for my wife and me, especially in looking toward the future for our three-year-old daughter. What advantages does your company gain by being located in Mandeville? We are able to attract quality employees. The northshore setting helps present the company as a family-focused organization and leverages the natural attraction that New Orleans tourism offers. What types of community outreach programs and charitable events do you participate in? We encourage PMOLink employees to participate in a wide range of community events. This spring we sponsored and provided volunteer support for the Pontchartrain Elementary Spring Fling, which is the major annual fundraiser for the school. One of the things that attracted us to that particular project is that the funds support the technology program - maybe we can help inspire future employees! What kind of future do you foresee for tech and I/T companies on the northshore? I see a few companies such as ours–and many web-based companies– taking advantage of the location as a central point to service their customer bases in the Baton Rouge, New Orleans, and Slidell areas. This growth will continue as organizations like the Louisiana Technology Council focus efforts on attracting these types of companies. This is also the perfect environment for entrepreneurial start-ups–just like ours.
