Shop Magazine
magazine street: an eclectic blend

Historic Magazine Street meanders through the changing architectural facade of New Orleans. Running six miles from Canal Street to Audubon Park, it is lined with Greek Revival structures of the mid-nineteenth century that give way to gingerbread millwork on Victorian shotgun cottages farther uptown. This unique thoroughfare, with its many shops and cafès, offers a shopping environment like no other in the city.

It is said that if you can't find what you're looking for on Magazine Street, you probably don't need it. That is likely to be true, considering the vast variety of goods in the shops. Everything from furniture, fine linens and apparel to antiques, art and jewelry is available, as well as bookstores, coffee shops, restaurants and more. (Some of the northshore's own specialty retailers have Magazine Street locations.)

The atmosphere along the street is friendly and approachable. Many of the shopkeepers act as enthusiastic ambassadors for the area. Feel free to ask for tips on the best lunch spots or for help in finding that special treasure.

Whether you're looking for a certain something or a little inspiration, you won't be disappointed. You will undoubtedly discover at least a few distinctive items that can't be found in the stores at the local mall! Your experience, as well as your purchases, will be unique-most visitors quickly fall in love with the pace and the pleasures of shopping Magazine. So, the next time you go to the city, head uptown and spend a little time enjoying.
