Publisher's Note

by Lori Murphy
Many northshore communities began as a summer place for families - a getaway from the city heat during weekends and extended holidays. Now, the same things that brought families to the northshore long ago remain for us to enjoy in our everyday lives. Don't forget to revel in them. Stroll along the lakefront, catch fish, go boating. Relax and recharge - it's a northshore specialty!

That certainly doesn't mean there isn't plenty to do. This issue is packed with ideas and inspiration for summer fun.

Don't miss our newest addition to the pages of Inside Northside. Our managing editor, Martha Pool, debuts a new column that we hope you'll enjoy. "Martha's Vineyard" is a collection of stories we've heard through the grapevine about the northshore and beyond . We hope you will be a contributor, too. Let us know if you learn of something that might fit!

Also in this issue are highlights on art, from a one-on-one interview with Susan Brunner to the collection being assembled for the new justice center in Covington. There's art for your garden, too. Barbara Twardowski helps all of us keep our children busy and out of the summer doldrums.

Take us with you if you go to the beach - there's nothing like sand in the pages of a good magazine!

Enjoy!
